Illumina is an academic e-journal and magazine published annually by the School of Communications and Contemporary Arts, in collaboration with The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, within the Faculty of Education and Arts at Edith Cowan University, Western Australia.
It was conceived of as an interactive forum for new research, teaching, practice and technologies in the areas of performing and visual arts, as well as communications (film and video, photomedia, journalism, media and cultural studies, public relations and advertising), creative writing and interactive multimedia.
Illumina has an international scope and is divided into three sections;
1. Journal - for peer refereed text-based articles and peer reviewed creative works (film, photomedia and electronic arts etc) plus exgeses.
2. Magazine - for non-peer refereed occasional papers, poetry, prose and prose-poetry, 'works in progress', opinions and letters, as well as reviews.
3. Gallery - for film/audio clips, photomedia and electronic arts and so on.
